Dream came true! Croatia won historical bronze medal!

The Croatian women's handball team created a sensation by winning a bronze medal at the European Championships in Denmark after beating the hosts 25-19 (11-11) in a bronze medal match in Herning. This is the first medal for Croatian women's handball at major competitions and certainly one of the biggest sensations in the history of European championships.

Croatia started great and took a 3-0 lead. Denmark retaliated with a 7-1 serie turning the score in their favor (7-4). However, the selected players of the coach Nenad Šoštarić found a way out of the mini crisis, Tea Pijević defended and Croatia equalized at 7-7, and in the 25th minute took the lead 8-7. In the end of the first part, we watched a draw and went to the break with the result 11-11.

The Croatian handball players continued with an excellent game in the continuation and very quickly took the lead with two goals difference. On several occasions they had an attack for +3, but they did not succeed, and Denmark equalized to 17-17 in the 40th minute. Four minutes later, Croatia had + 2 (20-18) again, +3 (21-18) in the 45th minute, and +4 (22-18) in the 50th minute, and when Andrea Šimara scored five minutes before the end for +5 (23-18) bronze was within reach. In the end, it ended 25-19 for the great celebration of Croatian handball players. Denmark scored a single goal in the last 20 minutes when it was all over!
